Chad Update, 9/30/08
Hello all,
Chad is presently in the hospital and will be here for the time being. The third regimen of chemotherapy, after an initial stem cell biopsy, showed some sign of progress, and Chad is due to have another bone marrow biopsy this Thursday. We’re crossing our fingers that he continues to show some additional signs of progress, but if there’s something this process has taught us, it’s that we need to be cautiously optimistic.
The truth is that Chad remains very sick. His leukemia has mutated and this third regimen of chemotherapy represents an entirely new, somewhat experimental treatment that has being tweaked and adjusted by Chad’s doctor after consulting with others in his field. It’s absolutely vital that Chad shows progress; unless he gets healthy, a bone marrow transplant is an impossibility. We are holding out hope that this third regimen holds promise, as beyond this round of treatment, options become increasingly limited. We ask you keep Chad in your thoughts and prayers as he continues the fight of his life.
Many of you asked how you can help. Chad will without question be in the hospital for another month, at the least. He has been in the hospital already for 6 consecutive weeks. I’ve set up a donate button/link on this website that will allow you to help Chad out with small bills, such as cell phone, utilities, etc., and perhaps some quality of life accessories (books, magazines, DVDs) that can help him through this extremely rough time.
